The Global Peace Dances on New Year's Eve ~ a heaven on earth tradition!
"As Rumi invites, I stepped out of the circle of time & into the circle of love.
This year, once again, through dancing Siyakudumisa, we were bestowed with the gift of shared presence  ~  of dropping the veil & just being, of meeting & greeting ourselves & each other in the truth of all that is, in Love.”

Thanks to all for a very moving evening of sacred dance on New Year's Eve. I am grateful for the collaboration,  compassion and musicianship  that  all  of  you offered.  I value your leadership and vision, so it means a lot to be included in your events.   Isabel

Being a musician for the wide variety of beautiful songs we perform, I also get a chance to see joy of the dancers, moving to the rhythms. David Willkomm

Welcome!

The Dances of Universal Peace (Sufi Dancing) honor sacred traditions of the earth  by incorporating mantras and scripture of the world’s religions into melodic  moving  meditations.   The evening will include singing, dancing, & prayers, with everyone participating.

These dances are spiritual practice for many dancers,& we can help maintain the sacred, joyful atmosphere as we sing and dance.  It is customary to listen to the leader sing the first time, then sing whole-heartedly,  holding a minute or so of silence after a dance ends,  & to  refrain from talking  throughout the evening.

We are thankful  for this opportunity to dance together & to celebrate the coming year  with peaceful hearts. Comfortable shoes for dancing are recommended. Give yourself time to park, walk in, & sign in upon arrival so we can begin together.

SAMUEL LEWIS
originator of the Dances of Universal Peace in the late 1960's, was a student of Sufi Inayat Khan.  "Sufi SAM" was a mystic and teacher to the hippies of San Francisco.
Peace is nurtured by holding hands in a circle of equals, regardless of culture, nationality, age, religion, or social backgrounds: healing separation by the collective experience of touching the depth of feelings generated through sacred phrases from many different spiritual traditions.
All the stars and all the galaxies
Run through her hands like beads.

     Ishk Allah maboud lillah Allah
     Ishk Allah maboud lillah Allah
   Allah, Allah
La ilaha il Allah
Send Thy Peace, O Lord,
which is perfect & everlasting,
that our souls may radiate peace.
